Unit Four: Imaginative Literature and
Arthurian Legends
The Imaginative Literature Unit of our English curriculum focuses on how cultures portray their values through their written artistic forms. In this unit, we will be studying classic canonical poetry, as well as more modern forms. We will also be composing our own creative poetry. This unit seeks to answer questions related to heroic stereotypes, cultural norms, and satire. For this unit, students are expected to read classic Arthurian legends and original fairy tales, and will watch parts of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" as well as "The Princess Bride" to understand how both videos use parody and satire to comment on the original subject matter..
